Tweets show repercussion of news about the episodes of physical violence, offenses and virtual threats, and publications by groups such as homosexuals, women and black people

Since Sunday night, there has been a consistent discussion on Twitter about episodes of physical and virtual aggression to electors and media professionals opposed to Jair Bolsonaro. From 7 pm on Sunday until 3 pm this Thursday, we identified 2.7 million tweets with repercussion of news about the episodes of physical violence, offenses and virtual threats, and publications by groups such as homosexuals, women and black people, who expressed their fear of being attacked should Bolsonaro be elected.
Similarly to the topics that have been emerging since the initial release of the presidential election results, the peak of mentions to fear and aggressions was shortly after 7 pm on Sunday, with an average of 3.2 thousand tweets per minute, when there was a predominance of publications demonstrating fear of the impact that Bolsonaro’s significant number of votes will have on his supporters who fuel the prejudice against minorities.

On Monday, the death of capoeira master Moa was the main topic of repercussion (with a total of 112 thousand posts), together with other reports and link shares about aggressions to journalists and PT voters. Posts about virtual offenses and threats happening on public transportation, on the streets and in people’s workplaces also saw repercussion.
